Getting a Quote
How do I get a quote for custom cabinets?
Use our free online cabinet designer to configure your project — choose dimensions, materials, and finish. When you're ready, submit a quote request. Our team reviews every design personally and will contact you within 1–2 business days with a detailed estimate.
Is the online estimate binding?
No. The online tool gives you a ballpark estimate. Your final price is confirmed after our team reviews your design, discusses your needs, and finalizes all specifications. There's no obligation until you approve a quote.
Do I need to visit the shop to get a quote?
No. You can design and request a quote entirely online. We'll follow up by phone or email to review your project details.
How long does the quote process take?
Most customers receive a personalized quote within 1–2 business days of submitting their design.
Our Products
What types of cabinets do you build?
We specialize in bathroom vanities, closet systems, garage storage cabinets, and small kitchen projects. All cabinets are built to your exact dimensions.
Do you build face frame or frameless cabinets?
We build both. Your sales rep will recommend the right construction method based on your project, space, and style preferences.
Can you match an existing finish or style?
Yes. Bring photos or samples and we'll work to match your existing cabinetry.
What materials do you use?
We use pb core melamine, furniture grade hardwoods, Blum hinges and drawer glides, and other premium materials.
Pricing
What does custom cabinetry cost?
Custom cabinet projects typically range from $2,000 to $100,000 depending on size, materials, and complexity. Our online estimator gives you an instant ballpark — no email required.
Why buy direct from a cabinet manufacturer?
Buying direct means you get factory pricing without a retail markup. You're working directly with the people who build your cabinets — no middleman, no showroom overhead.

Most projects take 4–8 weeks from approved design to delivery, depending on complexity and current shop schedule.

About the Shop
How long have you been making cabinets?
Rubottom Cabinets has been crafting fine cabinetry in Ventura, CA for decades. Our shop has a long history of serving California homeowners and contractors.
What makes your cabinets different?
Every project is personally reviewed by an experienced cabinetry expert before production begins. We don't run modular boxes, your cabinets are built by skilled craftspeople who take pride in the work.
Is Rubottom Cabinet a family business?
Third generation. Wilbur Rubottom founded the company in Los Angeles in 1946, and his family has been building cabinets ever since. The name on the shop is the same name on every cabinet that leaves it.
How is this different from a big-box store like Home Depot or IKEA?
Big-box cabinets are designed to move off a shelf. Ours are designed for your space. You get a real person reviewing your project, real craftsmanship in the build, and no retail markup — because you're ordering directly from the manufacturer.
Do you work with production volume, or is each project custom?
Every project is custom. Each order is built to your specifications by skilled craftspeople in our Ventura workshop in many ways, the same way it's been done here since 1946.
The Design Tool
How does the online cabinet designer work?
You configure your cabinets directly in the browser — choose dimensions, construction style, door style, and finish. As you build, you'll see a running estimate based on our manufacturer-direct pricing. When your design is ready, you submit a quote request and our team reviews it personally before reaching out to finalize everything.
Do I need exact measurements to get started?
No. You can start with rough dimensions and refine them later. The online tool is meant to help you think through your project — not lock you into anything. Once you submit, your sales rep will go over the measurements with you before anything goes into production.
Is the online designer free to use?
Yes. There's no cost and no account required to start designing. You only hear from us when you ask us to reach out.
Warranty & Quality
What warranty do you offer?
We have a one-year warranty covering defects in material and workmanship that we have honored for 80 years. However, we're an 80 year old company and we stand behind our product. We will often work with customers to fix damaged parts and accessories.
What makes your cabinets better than prefab or stock cabinets?
Stock cabinets are built to average sizes with average materials. Ours are built to your dimensions, with furniture-grade plywood, hardwood face frames, and dovetail drawer boxes. There's no filler, no shimming to fit, and no particle board where plywood belongs. The difference shows up the day they're installed — and every day after.
Seeing the Product
Can I visit the shop?
Yes, and we encourage it. Come see the wood in person, walk through the workshop, and talk with the people who'll build your cabinets. We're open Monday through Friday. Call ahead and we'll make sure someone is available to show you around.
Can I see finish samples or door styles before ordering?
Yes. We have door samples and finish options at the shop. If you're not local, bring photos of your existing cabinetry or the style you're going for and your sales rep will work through the options with you.
After You Submit
What happens after I submit a quote request?
Our team reviews your design personally and contacts you within 1–2 business days. We'll go over your measurements, confirm your selections, and work through any details before putting together a final quote. Nothing goes into production until you approve it.
Will I be talking to a salesperson or someone who actually builds cabinets?
Someone who actually knows cabinets. Our sales reps have deep experience with cabinetry and they understand construction methods, material choices, and how spaces work. You're not talking to an order-taker.
Working With Contractors
Can my contractor or designer work with you directly?
Absolutely. We work with contractors regularly and are happy to coordinate directly with your team. They can use the online designer to spec the project, or reach out to us by phone. We know contractors need to mark up product to make a living — that's why we offer a 10% discount to contractors with a valid license.
Do you work on new construction projects?
Yes. We've supplied builders across Ventura County for decades. If you're a contractor working on a new build, reach out and we'll discuss volume pricing and scheduling.
Custom Sizing
Can you build cabinets for odd-shaped or non-standard spaces?
That's exactly what custom means. Angled walls, sloped ceilings, odd alcoves. We build to fit the space, not the other way around. Your sales rep will work through the details with you.
What are the smallest and largest cabinets you can build?
Our online designer has minimum and maximum dimension ranges built in, but edge cases are always worth a conversation. If you have an unusual space, call us as we've likely built something like it before.
Installation
Do you install the cabinets?
Installation isn't included by default, but it's worth asking about. Depending on your project and location, we can discuss options. Many of our customers work with their own contractors, and those contractors have been working with us for years.
Can my contractor pick up the cabinets, or do you deliver?
Both. Contractors can pick up from our Ventura shop, or we can arrange delivery to your project site. Talk to your sales rep and we'll work out what makes the most sense for your timeline.
